AviStack v1.74 is now out. The wavelet page appearing in the new version operates as explained in the post with the following changes. The Gamma control was removed (temporarily). There is only one button to exit the wavelet tool, not two. There was an issue with cropping the image that required more time to implement properly, so this version does not crop the image. You will need to do that manually, if desired, and it should be obvious where the cropping should be applied. For those that wish to calculate how many pixels to crop, the equation in the article is incorrect. The value is not related the the maximum sigma, but rather the sum of the number of pixels calculated with the same equation from each active layer. This will be fixed in the next version.

Comments on the wavelet tool should be posted to the Yahoo! group AviStack, although I will read what shows up here as well.

One more thing, you can use this wavelets enhancement tool on your everyday photos too. I just tested it out on a 3072x2304 color jpeg with one layer (sig=0.20 and amp=10) and it sharpened up quite nicely.
